Dear Lakeview Parents,
As many of you are aware, Lakeview Kids has been trying to facilitate Spiritual Formation virtually during this time of COVID shutdown. Every Saturday you have been receiving an email from me with a short introduction to the weekly bible story, attached activity pages, and a link to the Bible Story video for families. We’ve also had individual “Praise Pouches” available for kids ages 3 – 11 who attend the weekly live worship at the Steeple Center. Although these activities have been done with love and a full heart, they were only meant to be temporary / stop gap resources. As the crisis has persisted, I have been increasingly aware of the need to explore other modes of ministry to better meet the very real spiritual, emotional, and social needs of children and families during this extraordinary time.
In light of this, we are planning to partner with Princeton Alliance, a larger church located within our Alliance Metro area, to provide our kids with a virtual Summer Camp Experience entitled “Knights of North Castle” from Aug. 3-7. The daily morning (9am – noon) schedule will include: Opening worship, Bible Time, Science Activity, Missions, Music, Craft, Snack (recipe video), Zoom bible discussions, & a Closing. Registration will be through our own Lakeview volunteers, and supplies will be mailed to each registered camper. Familiar Lakeview volunteers will lead the Zoom discussions. For those who are “zoomed out,” we are considering the option of having 2 or 3 nearby families “link up” to allow for the socialization our kids are craving as well as provide face-to-face spiritual discussions about the camp content with a trusted adult. In order to evaluate interest and better plan for this program, please click on the link below to participate in a BRIEF seven question survey.
Finally, I will be hosting two informal, backyard prayer gatherings of Lakeview parents and kids’ leaders from 6 – 7:30 pm Sunday, July 26 and Sunday August 9. The purpose of this is to CONNECT with one another, share our hearts, discuss the unmet needs brought about by the COVID health crisis, and prayerfully seek God’s heart in how to meet these needs for our Lakeview Families as well as the community at large. For those of you who are comfortable meeting outside with appropriate distance, our address is 55 Joes Hill Rd, Danbury, CT 06811. For those of you who would like to connect virtually, please call me at 203-240-4209 or email me at [email protected] so we can send you the appropriate link.
Please feel free to share if you or your kids have an idea you’d like to see implemented or if you’d like to volunteer to prepare or participate in summer camp!
Through the love of Christ, our Living Help,
Lakeview Kids Director
